Research shows that children need to move in order to learn. Movement in learning has become my passion this year. Students in my classroom will move often and learn a lot, we will do hands on activities and stimulate our minds. But the learning and movement doesn't stop here. It continues at home!
As parents, I need you to help me! What can you do? Your child needs to play outside afterschool every day! Please encourage them to play, ride bikes, climb, run, scooter etc.
On those cold, snowy, and rainy days there is a lot of fun to have indoors. Play board games, get out the playdough, let them paint, messes are ok! Give them materials from the recycling bin and have them create sometime.
Please limit the TV time. 30 minutes is all they really should have.
Have family dinners and talk with your child. Hold your child close and read to them every day. You are their number one teacher and they value every close moment they have with you. You can instill the love of reading and learning by reading with them every night.
Please look through the links I have posted. Many items came from a class I took and others are just things I found browsing the internet. Enjoy moving with your child.
