The visual arts are all around us! They may be present in the design of the car we drive, the packaging we select from a store shelf, the clothes we wear and the ads we see and hear every day. I enjoy teaching students how this process has evolved and how artist have lived and created art from the beginning.
I have been teaching children since 1983. I started my career teaching Early Childhood children at the YMCA in Manitowoc. I met many wonderful families, and found it hard to leave after fifteen memorable years.
After completing my Bachelor's degree in Art Education from Silver Lake College, I taught for a year in Chilton before being hired here in Two Rivers. I completed my Master's Degree in Professional Development from UW-La Crosse in 2006. This is my 20th year of teaching here at Two Rivers Public Schools.
Art classes at the High School include, Intro to Art, Independent Art, and Studio Art. I love to experience the great talents that are developed in each and every one of my students. I also travel to Magee Elementary each morning to teach younger students about the arts. This is my 7th year at Magee. I enjoy the enthusiasm on the faces of my Kindergartners, as well as my 3rd and 4th grade classes as they strive to learn each and every day.
When time allows, I create and tend to my yard and gardens! My favorite art medium is watercolor. I also enjoy photography, capturing memories of the places I have traveled and the beauty of the nature around us. I love to golf and snowshoe when the weather permits. I also love to learn ! I read anything and everything, learning a multitude of new information each and every day.
I have lived in Two Rivers since 1982 and have three grown children: My son, Kurt and future daughter in law Brianna; my daughter, Karly and her husband Jeff; and my youngest daughter Katrina and Logan. I was blessed with twin granddaughters McKenna and Madison who will enter the Two Rivers School district this year as Kindergartners and my grandson Dex is almost two. They are precious in every way and I cherish my time with them.
I have never had a boring day in the teaching field, and not one day has passed that I have not laughed at least once!
