Principal’s Message 2021
We are so excited to finally have all of our students back in the building to start the year. In parallel to our Kids at Hope pledge, committed to all students-no exceptions, over the course of last year our school adjusted many times and in many ways to meet the needs of all students. During that time we were able to reflect on some areas that we wanted to improve and I’m happy to share that we’ve started implementing those changes. Below are a couple examples of those changes..
ACT Prep Program
Starting this year, all 9th-11th grade students will be in grade-mixed cohorts working with teachers on college and career readiness standards which are reflected by the ACT. Over the 20 weeks leading up to the ACT in March, during ACP period on Wednesdays students will be spending five weeks each with teachers in ELA, Math, Reading and Science to address any needs our students have along with exploring tips and suggestions for taking the ACT. Students will also be taking the pre-ACT three times throughout the year.
Seniors Learn Life Applications
While 9th-11th grade students get support on Wednesdays, our seniors will be working with teachers on skills outside of our curriculum. Skills and experiences that will benefit students but are not currently in our curriculum will be the focus for senior cohorts during ACP period every Wednesday. Some of those topics are basic home and car care, digital graphic design creation, microsoft applications specifically excel sheets and word, eating/cooking on a budget, navigating digital literacy and more.
Rising Phoenix
This will be the first year our Juniors will be entering the Rising Phoenix Program. Through the combined efforts of TRHS and UW Green Bay, students will be earning both an associates degree along with their high school diploma.
TRHS is working to become a leader in high school education by ensuring all of our students are respectful, responsible and resilient as they participate in all of the current and expanding opportunities. We strive to find a path for each of our students through college and career based curriculum, clubs, activities and athletics driven by professional learning communities within our school.
If you ever have any questions, please contact me at any time.
Proud to be TR!
