Course description:
Ninth through twelfth grade students will expand their knowledge of the Fine Arts by exploring the history and culture. This is a DBA (Discipline Based Art) curriculum. The four components include art appreciation, art history, art production and critical analysis. Students will be introduced to High School Level challenges at a Step I level of the Wisconsin State Standards

Class Fee:
There is a class fee of $17 required for this class.
All students will need supplies for this class which are included in this fee.
These supplies include – 1 sketchbook, 3 paintbrushes, a set of 5 drawing pencils, an art gum eraser and a Magic Rub eraser and a paint palette. If taken care of properly, these supplies will last for the entire year and can be used in future years.
Please send the fee by check (made out to Two Rivers High School) or cash, with your child to the art room by Friday September 16th. Your child will receive a receipt upon payment.
Academic Expectations
Homework – Sketchbooks are due every two weeks. You will receive an assignment sheet with subjects and due dates and will have some class time to work on these.

Absences and Make up work – Please note:
Board policy states: A student is allowed 2 days to make up missed work.
Grade Scale: Rubric Scale Grade weights
A 100 – 90 A - 24 40% Art production
B 89 - 80 B - 21 30% Sketchbook Assignments
C 77 - 70 C - 18 20% Weekly Quizzes
D 69 – 60 D - 15 10% final/semester exams
F 59 – 0 F - 12 Participation (recorded)
The majority of assignments are graded with a rubric to allow all students knowledge of the objectives and expectations that need to be met.
*Parents will be notified any time a student is failing.
* Grades will be updated weekly on Skyward (access – www.trschools.k12.wi.us)
Families will be provided with a password.
Behavioral Expectations
All students will be expected to:
*Respect the arts, authority, their peers, classroom and school rules, all supplies and equipment including text books, and most importantly themselves. All school and classroom policies must be followed.
Classroom rules
- Only clear water is allowed in the classroom and must be in a water bottle.
- Food is allowed only with the teachers’ permission.
- Music media players are allowed only when the teacher assigns a work day.
The noise level must not be heard outside of the ear plugs.
- Cell phones must be turned off (not on silent or vibrate) at all times.
- No cameras in the classroom unless used for an assignment.
- The use of swear words and inappropriate talk will not be tolerated at anytime.
- Throwing or mis-use of any materials and supplies will result in a written referral and potential removal from class and cost or replacement of materials.
Consequences
- If the teacher suspects that the cell phone is on he/she may ask to see it and confiscate it. A written referral will be given at that time.
- Any liquids that are not clear will be discarded.
- Any electronic devices that are being misused in the classroom will be confiscated
First offense - oral and written warning
Second offense – art room detention – parent notification
Third offense - office referral - parent notification
Fourth offense - removal from class – parent notification
Rewards for Good Behavior
Treats, movies, radio time and passes to the art room.
